Team of four complete first Triathlon

Claire says of her first triathlon
...This started as a leg each idea that has now ended in the four of us deciding to complete the whole thing!!
We have been training hard, learning to swim, cycle and run and in some cases all three. We have no decent equipment, the wrong bikes and have never done a transition!!o
A Special Thank you to Claire Evenden, Luke Babinet, Ashley Sargeant & Nick Read for completing your first Triathlon on 27.06.10 and raising a fantastic amount of £542.50 in support of the work we do at Clowns in the Sky.
You have now of course inspired Richard to attempt the same, not content with running marathons and completing in his first London to Brighton bike ride this year. He now aims to compete in his first triathlon in 2011. Please follow his progress, from purchasing his wetsuit, which is not a good look, to his first open water swim1/2
I hope you guys will join him in 2011 to make a team of five!

A Special Thank You to Carolyn

Carolyn Matheson, one of our original Trustees, has decided it is time to relinquish her role.

We would like to say a very special thank you for everything she has done in helping to set up and develop Clowns in the Sky to where we are today. Carolyn was a very "hands on" trustee, the gifts that she brought both professionally and personally will be greatly missed. It will be very hard to replace her. We wish her well and know that she will continue to follow the future of Clowns in the Sky, and that we will always be in her heart.

London Marathon 2006

Hi, well I did it, I now have the medal and I'm proud to wear it.
By Richard (Jennifer's father)

The day was wet, but my spirits were high. I had my loyal support crew with me on the day, and this time unlike Edinbugh! they did manage to follow me round the course and find me at the finish line.

I may have been one of 32,983 but I felt very special, I knew why I was running and I was pleased to have the opportunity to be part of it.

I was doing really well and having my pal Paul with me really did make all the difference. Suddenly at 22 miles my left knee exploded and the pain was so great I was unsure if I could go on. I told Paul to go ahead and although he objected I persisted and he went on to get his medal. I was determined to get mine too, so although I was a bit behind him with the time, I still collected it and I can say it was one of the best feelings I've had. I didn't think my heart could feel joy again after Jennifer died, but the joy came from her. I was running for my little girl and she held my hand all the way round.

So after a few days of recovering I am slowly beginning my training ready for the Great North Run in October.

We are thrilled that The Dutch House have adopted us as their charity for this year.

Bob Podmore and Sara Keefe-Liverton have been busy already raising over a £1000 with a raffle in January. Every Wednesday they will be holding a quiz night and the staff have pledged a night's tips every 4 weeks. Thank you!

A special thank you to Tom, who has kindly donated £500 to our fund, from the Katie Tomlin fund in memory of his beloved great grand-daughter who died in 1998, aged 5. He is also collecting money on his allotment, thank you Tom. We promise we will cheer up the lives of kiddies as you have asked us to do.

Finally Bob and Sara have a number of ideas for further fund raising events and we will keep you updated.
