Juliette Radford, Play Specialist on Parrot Ward Gt Ormond Street Hospital for Children says “You will definitely be putting a smile on the Parrot Ward Children’s faces by filling the gaps when a play specialist cannot be present…”
I want to share a little story with you about a visit from Gordon, the truly amazing magician.
We have a girl who receives treatment on Tiger Oncology Ward who had a very busy few weeks travelling from the Royal Marsden Hospital to us and then home. On one visit it was her birthday and her mum had not had a chance to organise anything for her and was quite upset.
The visit coincided with Gordon’s visit and we set our playroom out with the girl at the head as the star of the day,
Both mum and daughter were amazed that this was in place and laughed through the whole session and the birthday girl went off with a lovely baloon animal and gifts from us.
I cannot express how grateful all of the nurses and myself are for the continued funding for these visits as we all need to be entertained along with the children.
Carol Sullivan-Wallace, Health Play Specialist
Safari Ward, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich
Thank you so much for the amazing parcels you so generously send us throughout the year – they really do make a difference to children to get through their hospital stay!
Everything supplied is wonderful and much appreciated!
Many thanks again! Dionne Davies, Play Specialist, Children’s Ward – St. Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight
You all do an amazing job and we really do appreciate the art and craft activities as we get through so many, especially with our long term patients so these things are always utilised.
Thank you, Julie – Nottingham University Hospital – Ward E40
Claire Woodthorpe, Liaison Nurse Specialist Children’s Neuroscience at King’s College Hospital says “Your charity and its aims and objectives are fantastic. You deserve praise and encouragement for your contributions to making what is a very difficult time for children and their families more bearable.”
POD, the charity that provides our entertainers, offer their thanks for our sponsorship which provides funding for entertainers at the Safari Day Centre at Gt Ormond Street, Royal Marsden, and Queen Mary’s Sidcup Hospitals. These visits offer a little magic, fun and laughter to children in these units.
Thank you so much for your email, and we always look forward to receiving the top ups from Clowns in The Sky.
The Christmas top up was lovely, jam packed full of things to do. We especially love the dabby paints and they are always so popular with the children here.
We appreciate very much the help you give us here with the top ups for the craft trolley. It is such a valuable resource to have. With our thanks and very best wishes, Helen Peck – Watford General Hospital – Starfish Ward
Tracey Machen, Hospital Play Specialist from St James University Hospital, Leeds, says “Our playroom is not open on a Sunday so the trolleys really provide some fun and enjoyment for both patients and siblings on this dray in particular”
Margaret Bradwell, Lead Nurse and Service Manager of the Children and Neo Natal Services at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup says “…..thank you for the wonderful clowns that we have to visit the children each month, the children absolutely love the clowns and thoroughly enjoy each and every visit ….”
