Croham Hurst Golf Club raise £10,090.34 for Clowns in the Sky Hospitals.

Clowns in the Sky were welcomed to Croham Hurst Golf Club, Croydon, to collect a cheque for £10,090.34 in support of the work we do. This fantastic amount was raised during the 2020/2021 Captaincy of Alison Davies & Alan Longhurst. Richard and Lynn were pleased to be presented with the cheque and would like to offer their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the truly magnificent effort during a difficult year, especially when most of it was spent in lockdown. Ladies Captain, Alison Davies, writes

THANK YOU FROM THE 2020/21 CAPTAINS

We were delighted to present Lyn and Richard, the founders of Clowns in the Sky, the 2020/21 Captain’s Charity, with a cheque for just over £10,000.00 this month.

The support of the members (and non-members) has been fantastic this year.      A very big thank you to all those who joined in the lockdown quiz, bought raffle tickets, donated items, sponsored Alison’s bike ride, made marmalade and chutney, and to Val Spiers who made and sold at least 130 facemasks (raising £680 alone).

We have asked that the money be spread across three local hospitals – Croydon, Kings and Royal Marsden.    The money raised will help go towards trolleys, arts and crafts, entertainers and the charity’s new initiative – local children’s authors visiting the wards and reading to the children.     The charity hope that local author, Laura Henry-Allen, MBE, will be able to visit Croydon University Hospital soon.

We were able to visit Croydon University Hospital recently to deliver the autumn trolley refill to the Play Specialist.    This coincided with National Play in Hospital Week 2021 (to raise awareness of how play in hospital greatly boosts the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of children and young adults who receive long term care in hospital settings).

Once again, Thank you to Croham Hurst Gold Club from Clowns in the Sky
